Feeling Hot! Hot! Hot? 6 Fun Ways to Stay Cool This Summer
Don’t suffer through the heat this summer! On those days when all you want to do is jump in a cold shower, you can create some fun with just a few simple steps.
You can get the whole family involved or add some exciting activities to your next kid’s birthday party with these ideas.
Top tips to keep you cool this summer
Here are our top 6 tips for how you can beat the heat this summer:
1. Have a water balloon fight
In the hot summer months, there is nothing more rewarding than a cold splash of water. With a few water balloons you can cool off during those hot days and involve the whole family in a fun water balloon fight.
Once you fill up your water balloons, you can divide into teams or simply have a free-for-all and have some fun.
2. Water pinatas
You can make your own water pinatas and add a terrific addition to a kid’s party, or just a way to have some fun.
Staying cool is easy with this fun activity! All you need is some strong string, some water balloons and something to pop your balloons with. This great idea is easy to set up once you fill your balloons and you will get a cool treat once you burst them. To make it even harder, you can even blindfold each other!
3. Make some fun ice blocks
Nothing is more rewarding than having an icy treat after a long hot day, it can be a great way to stay hydrated and keep cool.
You can mix up anything from juice, fizzy, yogurt, fruit, or a fun combination. Once you have decided on your mixture, you can use an icy pole mold if you have it or use an ice cube tray or a muffin tin with a popsicle stick as an alternative. It should only take 2 or 3 hours and you can enjoy your tasty treats. The sky’s the limit, you can get as creative as you like.
4. Set up the paddling pool
This is an easy one, all you need is a paddling pool and some water, and you can soak your feet or lounge around your backyard. You can complete your paddling pool with a beach umbrella for shade and a few toys for the kids to play with.
If you want to get creative and don’t have a blow up paddling pool, you can use a tarp and PVC pipes to create your own pool. All you need to do is cut the PVC pipes to make legs and a frame and cover with a large enough tarp and some clamps and you can easily cool off.
5. Make your own waterpark
If you have a tarp, a garden hose, a backyard, and some baby soap or shampoo, you can easily create your own slip and slide.
Lay out your tarp along your grass, ideally somewhere where there are no rocks and use garden pegs to keep your tarp in place. Then all you need is to turn on the hose and use some soap for added slipperiness. Your kids will have hours of fun and beat the heat.
